Local specialist health & safety/hygiene compliance firm gets a grant to increase the efficiency of the office in Southend. Low Carbon Business assisted Swiftclean in the application for a grant.
Swiftclean Building Services is based in Aviation way in Southend. The nationwide compliance business specialises in legionella control, kitchen extract fire safety cleaning and ventilation system hygiene control.
The latest project that the firm wanted to undergo was to double glaze the windows and upgrade the lighting to low energy. This would reduce the businesses overhead spend on electricity as well as carbon footprint.
Low Carbon Business assisted Swiftclean Building Services with the application for a European Regional Development Funded grant towards the overall cost of the project.
The double glazing and lighting project was approved and a grant was secured towards 40% of the cost. Swiftclean Building Services was clear to proceed with the knowledge that there was money waiting to be reimbursed.
The project cost Swiftclean Building Services £11,478.98 of which Low Carbon Business was able to reimburse 40% at £4,591.59.
Swiftclean Building Services is expecting to save 13,074 kWh of electricity and 10,747 of gas annually as a result of the project. This will mean that the business saves 8.84 tonnes of CO2 year on year as well as £2,120.35 in overhead costs.
The project was a welcome change to the business which has now been enjoying the new lighting and double glazing since late 2013.
